Requesting a driving licence file

If someone has lost their driving licence due to serious traffic violations or other reasons and has to undergo a medical-psychological examination (MPU), they can request access to their traffic file. The traffic file contains all information about the person concerned as a road user, such as traffic violations, penalty notices and accident reports.

To request access to the traffic file, the person concerned must go to the road traffic office responsible for his place of residence. There he or she can submit a request for access to the traffic file, which he or she must usually submit in writing or by e-mail.

The application must contain certain information, such as the full name and address of the person concerned and the period for which access to the traffic file is requested. The application must also be signed.

The driving licence authority examines the application and decides whether to grant access to the traffic file. As a rule, inspection is granted as long as no interests of third parties worthy of protection are affected. The traffic file can then either be inspected or printed out for inspection for a fee.

It is important to note that the procedure for inspecting the traffic file may vary slightly from Land to Land and may also change over time. Therefore, it is advisable to inform yourself about the exact procedure and requirements at the competent driving licence authority before applying for inspection.
